Rights Committee offers counseling on tenants
rights issues in San Francisco only. If you live
in another area of California or the country,
try using google to find a tenants or housing
rights group in your area that can help you.
If you live in San Francisco and you're having a problem (such as illegal rent increases, evictions, roommate problems, mold and other repair issues, etc.), we'll try and help you. For information on some of the more common issues that tenants face, click the topics below (they're in bold). If you don't find the answers you need on this site, you can always call our hotline or drop into the office. Counseling hours are Monday through Thursday, 1-5pm, 417 South Van Ness/15th, (415) 703-8644. Email: counseling@hrcsf.org. Note that this is a new email address. Please discard the old one. If you email, tell us whether you're in an apartment, house or condo and if it's under rent control (built before 1979 and with more than one unit). Also give us a contact number in case we need to call you.
